Spring Into Health: Renewal, Energy, and Well-being

March is a season of renewal and a time to honor the strength, resilience, and impact of women during Women’s History Month. At Sorogi Health, we recognize that caring for women’s health strengthens families, communities, and future generations.

This month, we stepped into spring together by refreshing routines, strengthening connections, and embracing small changes that support lifelong wellness. Participants found encouragement, education, and supportive spaces designed to help them feel stronger, healthier, and more energized.

February Highlights: Building Healthy Habits Together

Live Virtual Grocery Tour with RD Andrea

Via Zoom • Live from Costco

Participants joined Registered Dietitian Andrea for an engaging virtual grocery tour that made healthy shopping feel simple, realistic, and budget-friendly. Attendees learned how to:

  • Choose nutrient-dense foods while staying within budget

  • Read and compare nutrition labels with confidence

  • Select balanced meal staples for everyday meals

  • Make heart-healthy shopping decisions with ease

This practical session removed the stress from grocery shopping and empowered participants to make nourishing choices they felt confident about.

Where should Andrea go next?

Matters of the Heart: 4-Part Webinar Series

Sorogi Health’s Matters of the Heart Webinar Series was launched in February in recognition of Heart Health Month to promote and protect women’s cardiovascular wellness through education and practical lifestyle strategies. Sessions explored the impact of stress and emotional load, the importance of movement, sleep, and recovery rhythms, and the connection between food, hormones, and heart health.

The series featured expert insight from Dr. Vivian Ayuk, PharmD, CDCES; Dr. Luc Oke, MD; Coach Manny; Dr. Valerie Tagwira, MD; and Tariro Savoy, RD, CDCES, who provided medical, fitness, and nutrition guidance tailored to women’s heart health.

Participants gained a deeper understanding of women-specific heart risks and left with realistic tools to reduce stress, improve daily habits, and protect their hearts long term.

Valentine’s Day Community Gathering

Sorogi hosted a warm and welcoming in-person gathering centered on connection, self-care, and community wellness. Participants enjoyed mock-mosas, relaxing tea sampling, gentle wellness activities, and meaningful conversation.

The gathering created space for reflection and reminded attendees that caring for themselves is an essential form of love.

Tawana’s Corner: Kitchen Skills & Knife Techniques

Sorogi launched the first session of Tawana’s Corner, a virtual culinary skills class designed to build confidence in the kitchen. Participants learned essential knife safety practices, explored different types of kitchen knives and their uses, and practiced fundamental cutting styles and techniques demonstrated live.

The session focused on improving safety, efficiency, and comfort when preparing meals at home.

Strengthening Community Wellness with CentroNía

Sorogi Health partnered with CentroNía for a family engagement event focused on strengthening community connections while promoting physical well-being for both parents and children. The gathering provided families with practical tips and supportive resources to help them care for their health and wellness together.

The event was held at 1420 Columbia Rd NW in Washington, DC, from 4:00 PM to 5:45 PM. Sorogi Health shared information about available programs and offered simple wellness guidance that families could use at home.

We were honored to support CentroNía families and continue strengthening community health through collaboration and education.

March: Spring Into Health:

Spring symbolizes renewal, growth, and fresh starts. During Women’s History Month, we also celebrate the power of women caring for themselves and one another.

Whether focusing on improving nutrition, moving more, sleeping better, or managing stress, each small step supports lasting wellness.

Participants are reminded that meaningful transformation does not require changing everything at once.

Small changes. Big impact.

This month, participants can stay motivated and connected through several opportunities to engage in their wellness journey. The Show Your Heart Attendance Challenge encourages participation in three or more activities for a chance to win wellness prizes. Healthy Pair Bring Someone Week invites participants to bring a friend to build accountability and receive special rewards. The Love Your Numbers Mini Challenge promotes heart-healthy habits such as checking blood pressure weekly, walking regularly, reducing sodium, drinking more water, and managing stress through breathing and stretching.
